Monash Association of Planning Students (MAPS) host Melbourne's first large scale urban orienteering race. Armed with a BYO Melways Directory and using any transportation mode necessary, teams will navigate through three historic Melbourne pubs where they will receive a clue and segment of the address as they race to the finish.
Our cities are becoming increasingly hard to navigate, even with google maps and other navigation apps providing direction, leading many to be stressed and working up a lot of carbon with little calories burned in the process of getting to where they need to go. Our Monash Association of Planning Students (MAPS) are hosting Melbourne's first large scale urban orienteering race: Quick Maps on 7th September 2019, 2pm to 5pm. Armed only with a BYO Melways Directory and by using any transportation mode deemed necessary, teams of 3-6 must navigate themselves through 3 historic Melbourne pubs where they will each receive a clue and segment of the address of the endpoint. Teams will be scored by their arrival time to the endpoint as well as by the calories that were burned and carbon produced. Teams from planning, engineering, architecture, traffic and transport firms, university faculties of staff & students and friends & family are welcome, up to 20 teams - $10pp - prizes: 1st $50 Myki pp; 2nd $40 Myki pp; 3rd $30 Myki pp - registration online at Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/quick-maps-tickets-64523102336
