Professor Michael Humphrey holds Chair of Sociology at the University of Sydney. His research has strongly focused on globalisation through a comparative approach to topical research themes including international migration, refugees, multiculturalism, the city, war, terrorism, human rights, transitional justice and global governance. His major research areas are 'Islam in the West', 'Political Violence and Social Healing' and 'Violence and Citizen Insecurity in Latin American Cities'.
