Dr Garner Clancey and Dr Jennifer Kent, The University of Sydney
Is crime really on the increase? Or is it all just media hype?
And what more needs to be done to protect our citizens from becoming victims? This talk might just bust a few myths about crime in Sydney.
Dr Garner Clancey is a lecturer in Criminology and the Deputy Director the Sydney Institute of Criminology at the University of Sydney. His research interests include crime prevention, community safety (including designing out crime), criminal justice and public policy. Garner's recent paper is titled'An exploratory study of crime risks and the planning process'. Prior to joining the Sydney Law School, Garner worked as a crime prevention consultant.
Dr Jennifer Kent is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Urban and Regional Planning program at the University of Sydney. Prior to joining the University of Sydney, Jennifer was a Lecturer at Macquarie University and Research Associate at the Healthy Built Environments Program at the University of NSW. She has also worked as a town planner in NSW in both local government and as a consultant. Her recent journal addresses 'What can Built Environment and Health Professionals Learn from Crime Prevention in Planning?'.
