Stephanie Barker: Originally trained as an architect, before gaining postgraduate qualification in Urban Planning, Stephanie has over 20 years’ experience in strategic planning across the public and private sectors. Stephanie specialises in housing and infrastructure. She worked on the raft of recent strategic plans from the Greater Sydney Commission and is currently Chief City Planner at Western Parkland Authority.
Irene Ducket is Director of Ireneinc Planning and Urban Design, based in Hobart. Irene has extensive knowledge of planning in Tasmania, and a comparative knowledge of best practice models of government nationally and internationally, having established a planning practice in Victoria, and studied internationally in recent years. Irene is a fellow of Planning Institute of Australia, former Divisional President (Tas), and former Board Director of National PIA. Most importantly, Irene insists, she was Tasmanian before it was cool.
Professor Carl Grodach is Foundation Professor and Director of Urban Planning & Design at Monash University. Prof Grodach’s research areas include community and economic development, cultural planning and policy, strategic planning, and precinct-level urban revitalisation. His work is by nature interdisciplinary, focusing on issues significant across urban planning and policy, geography, sociology, and design fields.
Professor Michael Storper is Professor of Economic Geography at LSE, He is also affiliated with the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations at Sciences-Po in Paris, and is Distinguished Professor of Regional and International Development in the Luskin School of Public Affairs at UCLA. He is an internationally recognised scholar and author, particularly well known for his books which include The Rise and Fall of Urban Economies (2015), and Keys to the City: How Economics, Institutions, Social Interaction and Politics Shape Development (2013).
Diana Griffiths is a skilled urban designer with 25 years of professional experience in urban planning, urban design and architecture. She is a founding director of Studio GL, a Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia and has lectured in urban design and planning at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney. She is a passionate advocate for ways to plan and design more successful places.
